The new basketball rankings for the recruiting class of 2019 were released Thursday, and the list includes three prospects who will be playing their high school ball in Kentucky this season.

Aspire Academy’s Charles Bassey is No. 3 on the list. Bassey — a 6-foot-10 center from Nigeria — transferred to DeSales High School in Louisville earlier this month but will play for Aspire Academy, a prep team that moved from Arizona to Louisville this year. UK is expected to monitor Bassey’s recruitment, and U of L and Western Kentucky have also expressed interest.

Trinity guard David Johnson is No. 80 overall, and Hopkinsville guard Dekeyvan Tandy is No. 124 on’s list. Johnson and Tandy have both visited UK in recent months, and both players are being recruiting by Louisville.

Florida big man Vernon Carey is No. 1 on’s 2019 list, and Tennessee forward James Wiseman is in the No. 2 spot. UK assistant coach Joel Justus scouted both players at a FIBA event in Argentina this summer, and John Calipari followed both on the Nike circuit.

Other 2019 prospects with UK interest include Cole Anthony (No. 4), Matthew Hurt (No. 5), Ashton Hagans (No. 6), Bryan Antoine (No. 7), Scottie Lewis (No. 8), Trendon Watford (No. 18), Christian Brown (No. 20), Wendell Moore (No. 32) and Keion Brooks (No. 35).
